More opportunities exist today for the career advancement of persons of color; women, and person with disabilities than did twenty years ago. As Marshall McLuhan mentioned that the world is like a Global Village. International encounters take place as people travel around the globe as if no borders. Moreover, with the development of internet and technology, people from different places are connected through virtual rooms. For that, cross cultural understanding is inevitable. It is important for people nowadays to be able to develop effective strategies to communicate with people of different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, cultures meet together, having cultural sensitivity to others, avoiding and tackling bloopers, not to mention to think critically about institutionalized racism, classism, or sexism.

The first chapter will discuss the general of cultural attitudes the people tend to show, the values of cultural differences, and how to be able to conduct selfassessment to see someone’s readiness to encounter cultural diversity.

In Chapter Two, the readers will be more informed with various sensitive issues in multicultural encounters that exist under diversity umbrella. Then the readers will be equipped with some strategies to overcome cross-cultural communication barriers.

As stepping into chapter three, the topics will be more practical. The topic will deal with cultural bloopers, how to be an effective multi-cultural communicator, and how to apply useful expressions in intercultural communication.
In chapter 4, the book will bring the readers to the real-world multi-cultural encounters. One of the most real need is how to develop global interpersonalallies. In the last chapter, readers are brought to get to know Indonesia, its customs and cultures, and how to engage in its multiethnic society.
